Inside an essay mill operation
In this chapter we establish what the problem is, and try to establish the difference between ‘plagiarism’ and ‘proxy authorship’.
We establish that unlike plagiarism, which is an accreditation problem, proxy authorship is a collaboration issue. Since, unlike traditional plagiarism, proxy authorship isn’t a solo-venture but a collaboration.
With this premise in mind, we formalize the ‘4 levels of collaboration’ and develop the changing mindset required to drive better interventions via technology, policy and pedgagogy.
